It is because, Taters, the American-style movie snack house is already here to serve you freshly-prepared treats you would surely love straight to where you’re seating at at the cinema!

TATERS | HISTORY AND BACKGROUND:

Establishing their first outlet on August 4 1994 at Greenbelt Cinema Square, Makati, TATERS' unexpected entry caught the attention of many moviegoers. The advent of TATERS into the market gave movie-goers and consumers with better quality snack alternatives compared to old-style popcorn concessionaires whose operation was almost identical to a neighborhood sari-sari store. From offering flavored popcorn, fries, and roasted peanuts, Taters has evolved over the years, and is continually coming up with different snack options to choose from that do not only taste great, but are also healthy and offered at very reasonable prices.

With Taters, the sister branch of Chimara, a well-known food shop for vegetarians; you are ensured of healthful munchies you won’t have to mull over for giving you those extra pounds!

KAYA NATIN! Caravan for Good Governance | Davao City

Thursday, August 25, 2011 was the start of the Kaya Natin! Caravan for Good Governance: Davao. The Caravan is sponsored by the Kaya Natin Movement in collaboration with the Mindanao Youth Development Center.

It is a 3-day event, which was composed of campus tours to different universities in the city, TV Guesting, Feeding and Vaccination at Kabacan Elem. School, Meeting w/ student leaders, Dinner and Writers Night, Story Telling and Read-Along w/ Gov. Grace, and lastly, Tree Planting at People’s Park, Davao City.

Kaya Natin MovementAIMS:

This caravan aims to elevate the awareness among Filipino citizens on the practices of good governance, which are being inculcated by the Kaya Natin! champions to bring about change in society, to promote ethical leadership, and to instigate the rise of an empowered citizenry. Not only that, KN also focuses on social entrepreneurship, which looks for innovative ways to solve the social problems that beset our nation.

It cannot be denied that slowly, Filipinos, especially the youth, are becoming more aware and more involved in the workings of our government. More have risen up to the challenge of fighting for their rights and seeking for positive and observable changes in our government’s system. Thus, Kaya Natin! Movement, paves the way and avenue where Filipino citizens can interact with public leaders, who have proven their unwavering dedication and fervent perseverance in serving the citizens with transparency, honesty, decency, and ethics.

Kaya Natin Movement | Caravan for Good Governance

ABOUT KAYA NATIN MOVEMENT:

Kaya Natin! is a non-partisan organization that has been instigated since June 10, 2008. Its beginning was not that remarkable, just 4 individuals convening together at Club Filipino to share thoughts, ideas, and problems encountered in the plight of attaining real change in the society and promoting good governance through ethical leadership.

This group was comprised of Harvey Keh who is the present Director for Youth Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship at AdMU- School of Government, Jesse Robredo, former Naga City mayor, now DILG Secretary, and former governors Grace Padaca of Isabela and Ed Panlilio of Pampanga. The said convention was covered by Philippine Inquirer, wherein an article about it was published immediately the next day, which then elicited various responses and reactions from Filipinos worldwide.

From 4 individuals, KN has expanded over the years. Not only is it composed of politicians, who were termed as the Kaya Natin! champions; KN also has a number of student and civic leaders and volunteers in its circle. The passion and commitment of the pioneers rub of on more people, drawing them closer to the group’s goal of attaining positive changes, not only in the government, but also in the society and in the hearts of each Filipino.

Right now, the Kaya Natin Movement aims to promote genuine and lasting change in our government by promoting transparency, social accountability, people empowerment and electoral reforms.

What makes a Kaya Natin! Champion?

Above all other public leaders, the KN champions are the ones who are the epitomes of what effective leadership and governance is all about. They have proven themselves to be ethical and effective leaders who have given themselves wholly and truthfully in serving their constituents with unmatched vigor and dedication. They have came up with projects that do not benefit their own interests, but rather, have paved the way for a better community and enhanced societal development. These champions have a clean and honest track record, that is not tainted with bribery, graft and corruption.

But most importantly, not only are these champions known for the acts they have done and services they have offered; they have also stoked the fire in the hearts of people in creating a more participative and  just society. They are the instigators of radical changes that have not only benefited their constituents, but have also been the inspiration for several legislations and regulations all over the country.

Kaya Natin Movement | Caravan for Good Governance

Ethical. Effective. Empowering. 3 traits that every public leader should possess, but only few can embody.

Steaming Cup of Vietnamese Coffee | Hanoi

hanoi logo | Davao

Hanoi was the last stop for our Abreeza Ayala Mall Food Tour. After all the feasting, chewing, munching, and digesting; our bellies and jaws needed some rest. And Hanoi, was the perfect place to give us just that much needed break and relaxation.

Hanoi is the first and only restaurant in Davao City that offers sophisticated, tasty, and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. It is also a sister company of Tsuru, another restaurant here in Davao that offers Japanese cuisine.

HANOI’S VIETNAMESE COFFEE

Hanoi Vietnamese coffee w/ percolator | DavaoFor a long time, this restaurant has been known as a great place to gob down on diverse crab and seafood dishes.

Only a few people have known that Hanoi also offers genuine Vietnamese coffee, made out of coffee beans that were directly imported from Vietnam. It will then be served to you, either brewed or chilled.

This strong blended coffee will be brewed in front of you. You also have the option of doing it yourself. Hanoi will be providing a percolator, which will be placed on top of the cup, that will then grind down the coffee beans. This would have to be twisted to let the extract go down into the hot water.

Hanoi chilled Vietnamese coffee | Davao

If you choose to have it chilled, the coffee will be served in glasses, still with a percolator on top.  Cold water and ice will then be added to it, for a chilling, ice-cold drink, which you would really love.

If the coffee is too strong for you, condensed milk in a jigger will be provided with it.

Strong with a dose of sweetness, The steaming cup of Vietnamese coffee offered by Hanoi was really… great!

So, visit Hanoi now and try their strong-blended Vietnamese coffee. Skip the usual frappe-cake combo, or the all-too-typical café americano or espresso, and get a taste of Vietnam.

Maitre Chocolatier | Abreeza

Dreaming of going to Paris?

Well, if you do, then put your fabulous aviators on, don those killer stilettos, slung on over a trendy scarf paired with a gorgeous handbag, and head on over to Maitre Chocolatier: Boutique and Café.

Davao City’s one and only boutique-and-café place that is sure to make you feel like a bona fide Parisian, while offering you innovative chocolate concoctions made from European chocolate brands, that is sure to make you go… oh-lala!

Maitre Chocolatier | Abreeza Mall

….

Maitre Chocolatier | Abreeza Mall

From the outside, this boutique-slash-café imbues a Parisian feel to it. Just by looking at the shaded tables and chairs, the chic vibe that emanates from the place is unmistakable.

Add up to that, Maitre Chocolatier’s interior lighting and fabulous accents add a dose of elegance and sophistication to the quaint café. The mixture of brown, black, and cream-colored walls reflects just what you will be expecting from them: CHOCOLATE GOODNESS at its FINEST.

The chocolate expert and aficionado Chef Twinky Montero of Maitre Chocolatier was kind enough to let us taste their store’s 3 best sellers:

Beef Pizza | Maitre Chocolatier by Jesse PizarroBEEF PIZZA:

This pizza, as what we have been told is infused with dark chocolate. Also, its cheese is combined with grated white chocolate, which you will surely love. Unlike typical pizzas that are brimming with meat, salsa, salami, and more—this treat is truly a must-try!

Golden Euphoria | Maitre Chocolatier by: Koii Canarias

GOLDEN EUPHORIA:

This one’s my personal favorite!  Also called as Ferrero Hazelnut Crunch cake, Golden Euphoria is an infusion of Chocolate hazelnut mousse on a velvety chocolate spongecake topped with Ferrero Rocher Chocolate. As I was taking a mouthful of it, I just can’t help but be blown away by its flavorful goodness. Truly irresistible!

Guiltless Crime | Maitre Chocolatier by: Koii CanariasGUILTLESS CRIME:

They say that gluttony is a crime, but once you take a bite of this sinful pleasure, I don’t think you will ever stop wanting for more. It is a combination of the creamy Frey Lait Chocolate filled inside heart-shaped tartlets that is topped with fresh fruits (kiwi, mango, and melon).

With an interior that is both homey and fashio-chic, the amazing tastes of their delectable chocolate concoctions that are just waaaaaaaaaaaay too gastronomic, perfectly topped off the uber chic ambiance of the place.

Aside from their tasteful creations, they also offer chocolate bouquets and chocolate-filled gift baskets which you can give to your loved-ones.

Maitre Chocolatier by: Koii Canarias

Not only is it a great place to feel like a Parisian, Maitre Chocolatier is also a wonderful getaway where you and your friends can relish and have a good time! Whether you are a kid, a kid-at-heart, chocolate lover, food aficionado, or just about anyone; you are sure to find something in here that will quench your taste buds’ desire for sweet delights!

66656_10150281231065019_831075018_15368937_2062133_n

Maitre Chocolatier is truly the chocolate haven you’re looking for. Whether you want to lounge around on a hot and lazy afternoon or indulge your incessant need for chocolate; this boutique-café is the perfect place for you.

Café Mediterranean | An Overview

Gear up your taste buds and empty your stomachs before you even enter into the place where olives, spices, and pita breads reign. Inspired by the diverse recipes and dishes offered by the countries that border the Mediterranean Sea; this quaint and classy restaurant will surely get your taste buds busy and your bellies filled!
From the store’s ambiance, interior decorations and paintings (created by Jose Lasheras), right down to their wide array of exquisite and tasteful foods; Cafe Mediterranean is here to give you a taste and feel of the renowned Mediterranean cuisine and culture.
Café Mediterranean is the brain child of Dixie and Baby Mabanta. Motivated by the unique and refined Mediterranean dishes, they envisioned establishing a food haven where Filipino food enthusiasts and consumers can get a taste of the well-loved foreign cuisine. So, to turn this dream into reality, they paired up with the business mogul and corporate expert, Marla Tañada. Thus, with the combination of the trio’s diverse qualities and fields of expertise; they were able to establish the first branch of Café Mediterranean on the 19th of November, 2005 at Greenbelt1. After their 10th year anniversary, the company started to offer franchising opportunities to interested entrepreneurs, which led to the restaurant’s expansion to several branches nationwide. Presently, they have 8 branches all over the Philippines, with 2 of those located here in Davao City.
….

Grilled Beef Kebabs | Cafe MedAside from the names of dishes that are a mouthful to say and pronounce (e.g: Tzatziki, Tapenade, Kofta, Baba Ghanoush, etc…); another thing that also characterizes Mediterranean cuisine would be its use of fresh and healthy ingredients. Usually, most of these dishes are made of wheat, grains, vegetables and spices. Moreover, to ensure that their meat dishes are less fattening, they use olive oil for it.
Inspired by this style of cooking, Cafe Mediterranean also offers a wide range of products that cater to vegetarians, meat-lovers, spicy aficionados, and even those with a sweet tooth. Their wide array of tasteful dishes-- gyros, kebabs, pizzas, pastas, desserts, and more…. are sure to suit everyone’s tastes and preferences.
