So young, yet so gifted with a voice like no other...

A fast rising Singaporean-Dabawenyo singer, Miguel Antonio, recently held his mini-concert last November 11, 2011 at the Eagles Bar, Marco Polo Hotel, Davao City.

The 11-year old singer has not only exhibited his powerful vocal chords during his concert, but has also displayed an amazing skill of artistry and charisma to his wide array of audience. With his renditions on the different songs such as the classics Open Arms, Hero, Glory of Love, You Raise Me Up, and even modern beats such as Just the Way You Are, Price Tag, Firework, among others; Miguel Antonio proved himself to be a versatile crooner whose voice and singing style can fit well with different genres.

His long list of achievements would include, being crowned as last year's "1st Qifa Idol" during his school's singing competition. Add up to that, he was also featured at the Upin and Ipin Beatbox Commercial which was shown at the Disney Channel. Moreover, Miguel Antonio was also lauded as the champion this year for Singapore Press Holdings', 'My Kid's Got Talent!' contest. Because of this, he will be representing Team Singapore for the 2012 World Championships of Performing Arts which will be held at Hollywood.

Aside from singing for his school's choir team, Miguel Antonio has also showcased his crooning artistry at charity events, such as Singapore Pools "Fashion With a Heart", SOTA for Kids Performing Hope Foundation 2011, Japan Relief Fund, and Courts Young Lions Team, which was held at Jalan Basar Stadium. He also had collaborations with famous artists such as Corinne Gibbons last June 19, for the latter's The WOW! Concert. Aside from that, Miguel Antonio also performed recently during the David Foster and Friends Concert in Singapore last November 3, 2011. 

Because of his undeniable skill in singing, this talented youngster has been dubbed by New Paper, a distinguished Singaporean newspaper, as the "Justin Bieber of Singapore" and has been described by DJ Cherry Miles of Radio 91.3 as having a "voice of an angel". Miguel Antonio has truly captivated the hearts of the people, not just in his homeland, Singapore, but also that of the international scene. 

Son of the Singaporean Sam Vedanaigam and the Dabawenya Katherine Vedanaigam, the young and very talented Miguel Antonio has truly went beyond his young years to prove himself to be one of the greatest and most artistic young singers of today. With his down-to-earth nature and great potential, it is without a doubt, that this young crooner is heading straight towards fame and success in making a name for himself in the international scene.

This one wasn’t given, but we were informed that this curler, though lesser in price is manufactured by the same company that manufactures Shu Uemura’s eyelash curler that will pull you back at around 2K in price. So, if you want quality yet affordable eyelash curler, then try Natasha Beauty’s  eyelash curler.

Blush On (Peach Dazzle): PhP295.00

Great product to put in some bit of color to your cheeks. If you want to look glam in an instant, then this product is a sure must-have in your beauty loot!

Authentic and tasty, Yurushi offers a wide range of Japanese dishes you would surely love! PhP100 is already too big to have your hunger satisfied in this place, for their dishes would only range from PhP 35-75.00! Would you believe that their Katsudon, Gyudon, and Okatsudon only costs PhP 65.00? And their servings are quite large, a real treat for those growing boys and heavy eaters! They also do not skimp on rice, so if you would want to eat high-carb meals, then Yurushi is the place for you!

My favorites would of course be their Katsudon, Gyudon, and thanks to my boyfie, I’ve also learned to love their Miso Soup. Yakisoba, Tonkatsu, Miso Soup, etc… name it, they’ve got it! Aside from their Japanese dishes, they also have a wide variety of Filipino dishes like adobo, lechon kawali, etc. Oh, and yes, their mango shake is A MUST-TRY!

From the outside, Yurushi might just look like a regular cafeteria or carinderia, but do not be tricked by this. For its interior part and even their upstairs room are actually air conditioned. They also have a coin-operated Karaoke machine upstairs which you and your friends will surely enjoy. Their seats can be quite limited, so make it a point to go there earlier before night-shift workers get their meals there. Also, do not expect to sit in cushioned chairs for this is one of those low-maintenance restaurants where you would have to seat in monobloc chairs.

Well, Yurushi when compared to other Japanese restaurants in the city, can be a bit on the low-end, since it is a low-scale restaurant whose location is not that inviting nor is it that popularized. This anonymity makes it a regular haunt for customers who do not have that much budget but are opting to have heavy meals. Their target customers are those who have night shifts, since they are open until 12MN, or those customers belonging to the class C.

But do not be tricked or be moved to not eat here because of its unfamiliarity. Amidst its low-maintenance and “maka-masa” look; in Yurushi, you are sure to have great value for your money with their tasty and authentic Japanese dishes that are offered in prices that won’t drain your wallets dry.

1. Excluding military personnel, all civilians are qualified to join the contest. Only one (1) photo entry per contestant.
2. Photo Format: Full Colored or Black and White, Size: 8x10in (8R), Resolution: 300 Pixels Per Inch (PPI), File Type: JPEG
3. Concept should be wholesome and creative.
4. Featured objects/military personnel/place/figures/scenery positively representing the Armed Forces of the Philippines must be visible in the photo.
5. Contestants are only allowed to alter their photos’ brightness and contrast. No other photo enhancement/alterations shall be done; doing so will lead to disqualification.
6. No markings (intentional or otherwise) should be found on the photo.
7. Entries should not have been previously submitted or used in other competition or subject to copyright issues.

Cortal SQR & Team Azkals Press Conference

Cortal SQR, the newest pain reliever that combines the advanced formulation of Ibuprofen and Paracetamol, recently announced their continued support to Football, by supporting the Philippine National Football Team and the Philippine Contingent to the Homeless World Cup.

Some members of the Team Azkals namely, Yannick Tuazon, Misagh Bahadoran, Roel Gener and Nestor Margace, together with the Team Azkals coordinator, Ace Bright, came for a Meet and Greet with the Davao City Press in order to share their advocacy on promoting Football to the youth.

So, Why Promote Football in Davao?

Vik Oliveros, the Cortal SQR Marketing Manager said, “Davao City is one of the places in Philippines in which football can really flourish. It is one of the biggest cities in the country and has a lot of open spaces where young children can play the sport.” 

For some people, the word football can already evoke thoughts on expensive equipment and gear. To some, it can also be a complicated sport to learn, especially when one lacks the stamina and determination to pass the ball using only the torso, head, or feet, since the hands and arms cannot be used (except for the goalkeeper). These rules made this sport all the more difficult to learn and play.

However, when asked on whether football is an easy sport to learn and play, Misagh Bahadoran of Team Azkals confidently said, “Football is easy. If you know how to run, and you have a field, then, you can play it! Anyone can do it!”. Unbeknownst to many, Misagh, who, after graduating with a degree in Dentistry at CEU (Centro Escolar University), pushed through with his dream of playing the sport he loves most.

The 2 other players, Roel Gener and Nestor Margace who also came from far-flung provinces in the Philippines, also had their initial training at the sport without having to buy anything. With just a ball and a field to play, they were able to hone their skills, which eventually made them members of Team Azkals. And for Yannick Tuazon, “In football, all you need is passion,” is what he has to say for those who are interested in learning more about the sport.

In Promoting Football:

When asked on how Cortal SQR and Azkals would go about their advocacy in promoting sports, most specially football, to the Filipino youth; Vic Oliveros of Cortal SQR mentioned about going to the grassroots level, like barangays and holding summer sports clinics where the kids can play the sport. Add up to that, Team Azkals is also thinking about having collaborations with some schools so they might be able to teach and introduce football to the students. More projects and collaborations are being brewed to promote their advocacy and make their goals a reality.
